Obese Records Friday Fatlist 31/10/14 (Programmed by LGEEZ)

Friday Fatlist

This week’s Friday Fatlist was prepared by Broken Tooth Entertainment‘s own LGEEZ (Son of Sam & Alex Jones). They recently dropped their ‘CLOUD 9′ LP, which debuted at #9 on iTunes hip hop charts and even rising to fourth position on day of release. Here is their top ten tracks!

Listen here: http://bit.ly/1wP7nfV

Son of Sam:

01. T.I. ft. B.o.B & Kendrick Lamar- Memories Back Then

One of the best tracks I’ve heard for a long time. All 3 artists come with verses that give me goosebumps.

02. Kendrick Lamar ft. Ab-Soul- PP 1.5

I’ve been cranking this for a while now. Something chilled to vibe out to with a very relatable hook haha

03. Los- Play Too Rough

King Los in my opinion is the most lyrical rapper on the scene and the best off the top freestyler I’ve ever heard. I strongly recommend his mix tape ‘zero gravity 2′

04. Freddie Gibbs- Neverending Cycle

One of the realest joints I’ve herd for a long time. Freddie Gibbs is one of the hardest out right now!

05. Tanya Stephens- It’s a Pity

Im a massive fan of tanya stephens. Shes got some of the deepest music I’ve ever heard. This one is a massive tune and one of mu favorite tracks of all time.

Alex Jones:

06. Crooked I- Struggle

Crooked I has been my favourite MC and biggest inspiration since I started writing, lyricism at its finest.

07. Wiley- On a Level

Wiley still holding it down with this banger, this tune gets me gassed! Can’t help but bop ya head to this.

08. Dot Rotten ft. TMS- Overload

Its rare that we see a good underlining message in big commercial tunes, Dots ability to sing as well as spit bars and produced his own songs is sick!

09. Crooked I- Bang on Em’

Another crooked joint, I specifically remember this track made me wanna rhymewhen I was younger. The way he was able to play with words and have such a big impact with punchlines was always crazy to me.

10. Son of Sam- Scat Day

This is my favourite song off the album, even though sunnah will try and tell you he doesn’t like it, its sick! Dope way to finish out the album as well.

LGEEZ (Son of Sam, Alex Jones): CLOUD 9 OUT NOW!

Alex Jones and Son Of Sam formed a rap group called LGEEZ in 2012 and have steadily been working towards this debut offering since. CLOUD 9 is a eclectic journey for the listener. Taking you through a variety of musical styles and influences ranging from grimey hip hop all the way up to new school trap music, without sounding forced in any way.

Alex and Sam have been deep in the mix of these genre’s for some time, so the whole journey of making the album was a natural progression. This release delivers good vibes, good beats and immaculate rhyme structures, packed with powerful messages written for the world of today.

Growing up in the northeastern NSW town of Lismore, Profecy had little to no exposure to the ever-changing Hip Hop scene of Australia, through which he developed his own unique sound by trial and error. Profecy then relocated to Brisbane in 2010 where he completed and released his debut EP ‘Let the Music Play’, which gave him exposure amongst the larger Hip Hop community and enabled him to perform alongside some of Hip Hop’s best selling artists including Thundamentals, Illy and M-Phazes.

In 2013 Profecy gained positive recognition from music critics nationally when he dropped his ten track mixtape ‘The Arrival’. Now in 2014, Profecy is back with his forthcoming EP ‘The Release’ set to drop as a digital only release through Obese Records Distribution August 29thexhibiting the constant search for the witty wordplay and startling beat.

Walk With Me encompasses youthfulness in the most adept way possible; the anger, the unrequited emotions, the frustration and bliss and the bittersweetness of life. Walk With Me is bass heavy, but still carrying a summer-breeze sense to it.

Profecy, already receiving positive feedback from the media, is quite hopeful to receive a warm welcome back with ‘The Release’.

“Honest rhymes coupled with killer vocals.” – Maggie Collins, Triple J

“Quite honestly one of the finest Australian hip hop tracks I’ve heard in some time, with stand out production. Definitely an artist to watch.”Mark Dragham, TheAUReview
